COMMUNITY

Who we are

COMMUNIA is an European organisation that advocates for policies that increase access to and reuse of culture and knowledge. Because we noticed that education did not have an influential voice in the debate around the copyright reform, COMMUNIA started ‘Copyright reform for Education’: a project that focuses solely on making copyright better for education. Copyright for Education is project managed by Communia members Judith Blijden, Lisette Kalshoven, Katarzyna Strycharz, Alek Tarkowski and Teresa Nobre

Our community

We are an informal coalition of like-minded organisations such as EUROCLIO, LLL Platform, IFLA, EDUin, Public Libraries 2020, Klascement. We are teachers, educators, lawyers, researchers, librarians, activists, experts on copyright. Through our network we build awareness, exchange thoughts and information of issues concerning education and ongoing copyright reform. We support our network in influencing the copyright reform debate.

We care about high-quality education that fits the needs of teachers in the 21st century. We care about teachers, who want to share materials online, without infringing copyright law. We care about simple and more flexible rules for education in copyright system.

This project is funded by the Open Society Foundation.
